Industry broadly welcomes Renewable Energy Strategy
The renewables industry has broadly welcomed the Renewable Energy Strategy and the government’s latest low carbon white paper, both of which were launched yesterday (June 15).
The Renewable Energy Strategy (RES), which has been in the offing for over a year, details how the government will meet its commitment to produce 15% of its energy from renewable sources by 2011.
Meanwhile the government’s white paper, the Low Carbon Transition Plan, lays out how the UK will move to a low-carbon future, and includes a target for the UK to source 40% of its electricity from low carbon sources by 2020. More…
