About Me

Me, Jonathan Southall
Welcome to my blog. Why am I doing this? Hmm, I’ve had this urge for a while, that is to get on the Inter-web and do something, but never knew what! Well, here it is. But what is ‘it’? Well, initially when I set this up it was going to simply include random technology related ‘stuff’ that caught my eye, but inevitably I have changed my mind and so it is just any ‘stuff’ that I find amusing or bizzare!
So, a little about me. I was born in Wiltshire a long time ago, well, 1971 and lived there until my early 20′s. I then decided I should really make an effort and go to University, so at 23 I trundled down to Bournemouth and became a full time student. Having completed my degree in Applied Psychology and Computing I stayed on there for another couple of years after which I headed for the bright lights of London. After a couple of years there I have moved a few times, experiencing the delights of a cannock, Stoke, Crewe (yikes), Hemel Hemstead (yikes again), Bournemouth (again), Basingstoke, Milton Keynes, and now Berkhamsted (near Hemel Hemstead!!)
So I’ve worked in technology and telecoms marketing for the past 13 years or so. Fortunately I’ve enjoyed working for some interesting companies, including Psion Computers (a fantastic company that lost its way), NTL, BT and 3Com. So, over this time, I’ve been involved with some cool, fun, exciting and interesting (!?!?!) products, such as the Psion Series 5mx, Psion Revo, Psion Series 7, as well as working with some cool technology vendors such as Nokia (the original Communicator), Apple (the Newton, I thought it was good!), Motorola and Sony Ericsson to sell their stuff. So, that’s why I like tech, but I ain’t no geek!! Umm, not that there’s anything wrong in being a geek, of course!
Anyway, this is my meagre contribution to the inter-web, web 2.0 and the world as we now know it…that is, looking through Alice’s computer screen!!!!!
